Refuge U - Online

Have you ever wondered where the Bible came from? This class is all about the origins of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament and how to develop the skills necessary for reading it well. We'll explore the biblical and historical data about the production of the biblical scrolls, focusing on why and how these texts were formed into a unified collection. We'll also cover some of the most important skills for reading biblical narrative and poetry so that you can take your own study of the Bible to the next level.

Using BibleProject's Classroom resource, we'll engage together in this interactive, seminary-level course. The five course modules are accessible through mobile or desktop and include about 15 hours of videos/lectures over the course of 8 weeks. Every two weeks, we'll gather together to discuss what we are learning. These gatherings will be offered both in-person on Sunday mornings before church (3/24, 4/7, 4/21, and 5/5) and virtually on Monday evenings at 8pm (3/25, 4/8, 4/22, 5/6). For both groups, there will be a brief informational meeting and class setup after church on Sunday, March 3. This course is sure to add scope and depth of insight to anyone's Bible reading -- and especially those reading along with our Bible in a year plan!

Men's Retreat 2024

  • 12626 Cannon Mines Road Cadet, MO, 63630 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

The men of Refuge 18 and older will be heading back to Cannon Mines for our annual retreat on April 12-13. The cost is $50 per person to cover dinner Friday, breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and beverages. Add an extra $10 to your payment if you would like to shoot clay birds on Saturday.

There is plenty of room for sleeping inside the climate controlled house (as well as indoor plumbing!) so this is by no means 'roughing it.' However, if sleeping in a tent/hammock is your thing, there's plenty of space for that as well. Sign up here!

If you have questions or need to reserve one of the beds for medical reasons, please contact James Jacobs or office@seekrefuge.net.
