LYRICS & READINGS

How Wonderful is Christ our King!

How wonderful is Christ our King!

All things and times and souls are His,

The high, the low, yes, everything.

The then, the now and what shall be!

He needs no gift, He gives instead.

He gave Himself upon the cross,

That all the living and the dead

Might know and own His godly rule.

Chorus

How wonderful is Christ our King!

All things and times and souls are His,

The high, the low, yes, everything.

The then, the now and what shall be!

He who was full became the void,

The height sank to the deep abyss.

On cursed tree He was destroyed,

That hell might know His royal face.

Yet even there His rule was sure.

The infant reigned from manger throne,

The crucified from tomb secure,

And still He rules invisibly.

The Day will come when everything

And everyone will see His face.

Then all shall know that Christ is King

That God, True God, is all in all.

Psalm 135:1-6

Praise the Lord! Praise the name of the Lord, give praise, O servants of the Lord,

who stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God!

Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing to his name, for it is pleasant!

For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel as his own possession.

For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

Whatever the Lord pleases, he does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all the deeps.

All creatures of our god and king

All creatures of our God and King

Lift up your voice and with us sing

O praise Him, alleluia

Thou burning sun with golden beam

Thou silver moon with softer gleam

O praise Him, O praise Him

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia

Thou rushing wind that art so strong

Ye clouds that sail in heaven along

O praise Him, alleluia

Thou rising moon in praise rejoice

Ye lights of evening find a voice

O praise HIm, O praise Him

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia

Let all things their Creator bless

And worship Him in humbleness

O praise Him, alleluia

Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son

And praise the Spirit three in One

O praise Him, O praise Him

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia

Psalm 51:1-6

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love;

according to your abundant mercy, blot out my transgressions.

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!

For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.

Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight,

So that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment.

Behold, I was brough forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.

Jesus I Come

Out of my bondage, sorrow and night,

Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come.

Into Thy freedom, gladness and light,

Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of my sickness into Thy health,

Out of my wanting and into Thy wealth,

Out of my sin and into Thyself,

Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of my shameful failure and loss,

Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come.

Into the glorious gain of Thy cross,

Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of earth’s sorrows into Thy balm,

Out of life’s storms and into Thy calm,

Out of distress into jubilant psalm,

Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of unrest and arrogant pride,

Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come.

Into Thy blessed will to abide,

Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of myself to dwell in Thy love,

Out of despair into raptures above,

Upward forever on wings like a dove,

Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of the fear and dread of the tomb,

Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come.

Into the joy and the light of Thy home,

Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of the depths of ruin untold,

Into the peace of Thy sheltering fold,

Ever Thy glorious face to behold,

Jesus, I come to Thee.

John 3:13-18

No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

That whoever believes in him may have eternal life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already,

because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

In Christ Alone

In Christ alone my hope is found

He is my light my strength my song

This Cornerstone this solid ground

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love what depths of peace

When fears are stilled when strivings cease

My Comforter my all in all

Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone who took on flesh

Fullness of God in helpless Babe

This gift of love and righteousness

Scorned by the ones He came to save

‘Til on that cross as Jesus died

The wrath of God was satisfied

For ev’ry sin on Him was laid

Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay

Light of the world by darkness slain

Then bursting forth in glorious day

Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory

Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me

For I am His and He is mine

Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life no fear in death

This is the pow’r of Christ in me

From life’s first cry to final breath

Jesus commands my destiny

No pow’r of hell no scheme of man

Can ever pluck me from His hand

‘Til He returns or calls me home

Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand

Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.

And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

This is the Good News of our God and King.

Thanks be to God for His gospel!

Communion Liturgy

The Bible tells us that the Lord’s Supper is a sacrament given by God and instituted by Christ as a visible sign and seal that we are forgiven and united with him in his death and resurrection and bound together as a community of faith.

When we participate in communion, the Holy Spirit more fully declares and seals the promises of the gospel to us.

Concerning this sacrament, the apostle Paul wrote these words in 1 Corinthians 11: “The Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, ‘This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’ In this same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me’.”

For as often as we eat this bread and drink the cup, we proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

Because Paul warns that those who take part in this supper with unrepentant hearts, eat and drink judgment on themselves, it is important that we confess our sinfulness and Christ’s provision of forgiveness before receiving this meal.

Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent, for the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

In him [Jesus] we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our sins, according to the riches of his grace (Ephesians 1:7).

Come Ye Sinner Poor and Needy

Come ye sinners, poor and needy

Weak and wounded, sick and sore

Jesus ready stands to save you

Full of pity, love and power

Chorus

I will arise and go to Jesus

He will embrace me in his arms

And in the arms of my great Savior

There are, ten thousand charms

Come ye thirsty, come and welcome

God’s free bounty, glorify

True belief and true repentance

Every grace that brings you nigh

Come ye weary, heavy laden

Lost and ruined by the fall

If you tarry until your better

You will never come at all

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again;

he ascended into heaven,

he is seated at the right hand of the Father,

and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen.

The Rising of the Son

In You God’s wrath and mercy meet

The debt was paid on Calvary

Justice made know and grace complete

We praise you Jesus, King of Kings

Chorus

Jesus, our messiah,

Lamb of God, holy one

Please remind us in our trials

Of the rising of the Son

When life seems more than we can bear

And days are filled with earthly cares

Then help us Lord not to despair

Oh, son of man please hear our prayer

Break forth oh beauteous heavenly light

And usher in the morning

What life will reign and death will die

Oh Jesus come in glory
